On the topic of abortion and to expand briefly on my last post, let me work through some of the implications if we assume that a) heaven is real and b) aborted fetuses go there. Here is the video I am referencing.
First, the anti-abortion speaker in the video (the black guy) said that he believed aborted fetuses go to heaven.
OK, so if aborted fetuses go to heaven, what are the implications? Well, as the female speaker, Kate Smurthwaite, says, we are actually doing babies a favor by aborting them because we are giving them a straightaway ticket to paradise without having them subjected to the various trials and tribulations of this world, not to mention the “original sin” that will assuredly lay heavy on their “immortal souls” once they pass through the birth canal. If original sin were true and an eternal “charge” of sin against an all-powerful god were laid upon me the moment I was born, I would probably choose abortion.
Second, what are the ghastly implications if we assume that aborted fetuses go to heaven, again, if we assume heaven is real? Well, some rather ghastly “spiritual” beings are certainly to dart our site. Will half-developed fetuses wander around heaven or will they take an angelic shape? To assume the latter is to assume complete illusion and to assume the former is to make a person wince in disgust. A half-developed fetus in heaven? It’s so absurd that I shouldn’t even be wasting time talking about it, but this is, apparently, what some modern believers really think will happen to embryos and fetuses that do not make it to full term.
