This interesting to me, especially if we take into account that Bill Maher doesn’t really cast himself in his movie or his show as a de facto atheist, but as an agnostic. I believe he says as much outright in his movie, Religulous, that the appropriate position to take is that of simply one of not knowing. Period. And this seems pretty clear from watching Religulous. Perhaps he has changed his mind since then or is just toeing both lines. Who knows.
